Matthew Isakowitz Fellowship Program
Launched in 2017, the Matthew Isakowitz Fellowship Program supported the next generation of commercial space industry leaders through internships, mentorship, and networking. Awarded to exceptional college juniors, seniors, and graduate students, the Fellowship included a paid summer internship at a cutting-edge commercial space company, one-on-one executive mentorship from accomplished members of the space community, and a memorable networking summit. The program concluded in 2024 after seven classes, but continues to foster a lifelong community for the 200 Alumni Fellows through networking, advising, events, and reunions.
(Note: The Fellowship is no longer accepting new classes.)

The Matthew Isakowitz Fellows received a paid summer internship, typically lasting 10-12 weeks, at one of the leading commercial spaceflight companies in our “host company” pool. Fellows were matched to a position that may have included assignments in engineering designs, market studies, strategic planning, policy evaluation, and business analysis and development. Prior to the beginning of the internship, each Fellow was paired with an experienced and notable commercial space industry leader for mentorship to make the best use of their time during the program, in addition to receiving advice for their academic and future professional careers. These executive mentors included engineers, entrepreneurs, investors, company executives, astronauts, and many more who have contributed to the success of the space industry. The summer culminated in a summit that brought together the current class of Matthew Isakowitz Fellows for a memorable and celebratory event in Los Angeles. This summit allowed the Fellows to network with one another, while also getting behind-the-scenes insights into companies and learning more about the latest developments in commercial spaceflight from top innovators in the field. Take a peek into past summits here.

Once the Fellows completed their summer internships, they became official Alumni of the Matthew Isakowitz Fellowship Program. Not only can they continue networking with one another for career opportunities and advice, but they also get to enjoy being part of an awesome community of space enthusiasts. Alumni often attend industry events together, organize virtual talks with leaders, offer guidance to one another about jobs and graduate school, and more—not to mention enjoy having lifelong friends!
